3.0L I-6 Duramax TurboDiesel Specifications & Information

3.0L Duramax engine specs, tow capacity, and fuel economy ratings.

Specifications on GM’s new 3.0L Inline-Six Duramax Available on 2020+ Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500 Trucks

Although GM was the first to offer a diesel in the mid-size truck market found in the Duramax Colorado or Canyon, they have been the last to adopt a half-ton diesel. GM lovers across North America, the time is finally upon us. GM will be releasing a diesel variant of their 1/2 ton trucks, in the form of a 3.0L Inline-six Duramax engine. Unlike both Ford’s 3.0L V6 Powerstroke and FCA’s 3.0L V6 EcoDiesel, the three liter Duramax will feature an inline-six cylinder design. This I-6 3.0L Duramax produces 277 horsepower and 460 lb/ft of torque and has a max towing capacity of 9,300 lbs. According to EPA estimates, 2wd trucks equipped with the 3.0L Duramax can get up to 33 miles per gallon on the highway. Have questions about this new Duramax? 3.0L Duramax Tow Capacity

While the 3.0L Duramax does provide higher estimated fuel ratings than the 3rd generation EcoDiesel or the 3.0L Powerstroke F150, it offers less tow capacity. Max tow capacity for the 2020 Silverado 1500 or 2020 Sierra 1500 is 9,300 lbs. Tow capacity will vary according to your trucks specifications, so it’s important to consult your owners manual or GM directly to get your exact max tow capacity.
